Pet Peeve #1

I don't think it's any surprise that most everyone in the world has at least one "pet peeve". You know, that one thing that drives you absolutely insane; that thing which makes you want to go out on a major killing spree to kill those who "do" this particular thing you dislike?

Some folks aren't as bad as others, but I'm one of those individuals who has at least 100 different pet peeves. I'm both easily irritated and quick to anger by the simplest of things. Someone cuts in on me in line? Die! Someone walking cuts out in front out me and then starts walking slowly? Die! Ignorant individuals at the cash register? Die! Poseurs in Starbucks? Die! The BMW E39 5 series doesn't look any good anymore because it's dated? Die!

I could think of at least a thousand more things which annoy the hell out of me, but there's nothing, and I mean nothing that pisses me off more than sexist assholes.

Being a member on a number of subject varied, male dominate websites and forums, I often come across such sexist attitude - even from friends - which makes me want to strangle them with piano wire.

Some forums are worse than others, but no matter how much or how little, I really get wired up seeing sexist comments towards women. Fuck, I hate it.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm as guilty as anyone in participating in a slightly sexiest joke, but I believe nothing of what I say and never take it too far nor discuss it with others on an Internet forum.

Some of the comments I commonly come across are: "those bitches"; "those b's"; "dishwasher units" and a whole other host of completely low-class, ignorant, trailer trash comments. Comments which degrade females to the point of making it sounds as if women are beneath men; or in other words, dogs. And you wouldn't believe how many groups there are on Facebook promoting sexist behavior; clubs with names like "a woman's place is in the kitchen", or "bitch, shut up". And there are people in these groups who have girlfriends/wife's... That just blows my fucking mind.

I cannot think of anything more that shows great insecurity, and low-form. I do my best not to read into these comments too much, but sometimes it's just beyond belief. And though I realize that we aren't living in the 1940's and thus probably more accepting of females than we ever were before, don't you dare tell me that it doesn't still exist, because it bloody well does.

Now, I think it's fair to say that there is a great deal more of sexist remarks towards women than there are men, but that's not there isn't sexism towards men. Oh no, while there is indeed less than discrimination towards men than women, it's still a growing problem both ways. But evidently, being a male, sexist comments towards females bothers me more than those aimed towards men. Final verdict?
Say no to sexism.
