Took this interesting "personality profile" on Facebook this past Saturday and thought I'd share the results:
After reviewing the test, I believe that it's fair to say that much of it is spot on. That being said, I'd like to touch on two particular categories: "Openness" and "Conscientiousness".
Regarding the "Openness": I couldn't agree more. As the category description explains, the ability to be "open" means a wide variety of things. First and foremost, it can reveal how limited one's interests are. As is obvious in this particular case, my interests are extremely varied; I definitely enjoy a number entirely different things - from all types of music, to all types of activities.
Another aspect to openness is your ability to express your opinions on this and that. And it's true, I am not afraid to express my opinions, nor dislikes or likes for any particular thing. If I like something, I bloody well tell someone and stand my ground; same goes for something I dislike, naturally.
And though it may sound overtly arrogant to agree with such, I fully do believe that I have an imagination which is both vivid and creative.
Nor is there much to refute regarding the "Conscientiousness" rating of my profile. There's no qualm about it, I am most certainly a perfectionist. I have a very strict set of rules for myself which I always follow. A number of ritual-likes activities which very much borderline on obsession. Everything I do is carefully planned to the best of my ability, so it goes without saying that I am extremely angered when my routine, or plan is not carried out in full. I will not - cannot - carry out things half arsed for the sake of quick completion.
But even then, I am rarely satisfied with most things I do; always thinking that I could have done them better. And let me tell you, it's clearly evident when I write a car article for both my automotive blog and AutoSavant.net. I can honestly say that I have never written an article I was 100% satisfied with. I'll re-read them and think: "my God, what the hell was I thinking? Not only did I write about a terrible subject, but my writing was absolutely atrocious".
From a positive point of view, being a perfectionist means you are most always organized in ways which most aren't. You anticipate problems and carefully plan the solution out so that you can either fix them once they arise, or avoid them entirely.
The downside to all of this is that people can view you in a negative light which pertains to being dull, boring and ultimately, not-fun. Additionally, people think that you are incapable of being spontaneous... But you can't blame 'em. There is indeed a great deal of truth in that.
The only part of this test that I somewhat disagree with is that pertaining to "Extraversion". I would agree that I am both energetic and active as well as one who enjoys (certain) social occasions, but am not overly fond of talking to large groups of people. And actually, to be honest, I pretty much despise things like that.
